A long line dog lead — also called a recall lead or long training lead — gives your dog room to run, sniff and work while you stay connected. Whether you're working on recall in the paddock, building distance for tracking, letting them stretch their legs at the beach, or giving a young dog freedom without the risk of a bolt, the long line is the lead that makes it possible without letting go of control.
Made from the same smooth PVC webbing as our entire range — no rope burn when they take off suddenly, no soaking up mud or water, no odours building up over time. It doesn't get heavy and sodden in wet grass, it wipes clean in seconds, and it lies flat instead of knotting itself up the way rope does.

✔ Safety clip — choose it from the options above for boisterous or strong dogs that pull or lunge suddenly. It's a larger clip, so it's best on medium collars (50cm) and up — it's too big for smaller collars and small dogs.

What length long line should I get?
The 5m suits most recall training and smaller open spaces. The 8m gives more room for paddock work and building distance for tracking. The 10m is for open fields, beaches and full recall work — and it meets the 10m minimum lead length for Dogs Australia (ANKC) tracking trials. Plenty of owners end up with two lengths for different places.
Is a long line good for recall training?
Yes — it's one of the most common ways to train recall. Your dog gets freedom to move away and practise coming back, while you keep a safety net if they decide not to. Once recall is reliable, you can drop the line and let it trail before going fully off lead.
Will a long line burn my hands?
Not this one. Rope and nylon can burn when a dog takes off and the line runs through your hands. Our PVC webbing is smooth, so it slides through your grip instead of tearing at it.
How is PVC different from a rope, nylon or biothane long line?
Rope and nylon soak up water, get heavy and smelly, and tangle easily. PVC-coated webbing doesn't absorb water, wipes clean, and lies flat. For a closer look at how PVC compares with biothane, read our PVC vs biothane guide.
Can I use it with a harness?
Yes. The clip attaches to a harness ring as easily as a collar. Many trainers prefer a harness for long line work so a sudden stop at the end of the line isn't taken at the neck.
How do I clean it?
Rinse it under the tap or wipe it down. No soaking, no scrubbing, no drying time — it's ready for the next session straight away.
