Kelpie Dog Collars & Working Dog Gear Australia | Jacaranda Collars
Collars Built for Dogs That Actually Work
Kelpies don't sit still. Their gear shouldn't fall apart when they don't. Waterproof PVC collars handmade in Orange, NSW — riveted, not stitched, built for the paddock, the ute tray, and everything in between.
Most dog collars are built for dogs that spend their day on a couch. A Kelpie is not that dog. They're in the ute before sunrise, through three paddocks by lunch, and still going at dusk — working in heat, dust, mud, creek crossings and whatever else the day throws at them. Their collar needs to handle all of it without falling apart or reeking after a week.
That's why we build ours from waterproof PVC. It doesn't absorb dirt or sweat, doesn't stink, won't rot, and takes about five seconds to wipe clean. The hardware is riveted, not stitched — because stitching fails under load, and out in the paddock you don't want to find that out the hard way.
"Bought two for my kelpies six months ago. Still going strong — covered in red dirt every other day. Wouldn't use anything else."
— Jacaranda Collars customer, regional QLDWhy Kelpies Are Hard on Gear
The Australian Kelpie was bred to work hard in tough conditions — mustering sheep and cattle across the kind of country that destroys cheap equipment fast. A working Kelpie can cover 60km in a day. They swim, they dig, they push through scrub, and they do it all again tomorrow.
Standard pet store collars aren't built for this. Nylon absorbs moisture and smells within a week. Stitched collars loosen up under constant stress. Cheap buckles crack in the cold or warp in Queensland summers. You end up replacing them every few months and wondering why you bothered.
A Jacaranda collar is built to stay on a working dog for years, not months. Buy it once and stop thinking about it.
Riveted, Not Stitched
Stitching frays, absorbs moisture and eventually fails. Every Jacaranda collar is riveted with solid hardware — no weak points, no surprises.
Waterproof PVC
Creek crossings, dam swims, muddy paddocks — wipe it down and it's clean. No rot, no odour buildup, no fading.
~350kg Break Strength
Rated to handle real load. A Kelpie hitting the end of a lead at full pace won't snap it.
16 Colours
Easy to spot in long grass or a dusty yard. High-vis isn't just for the show ring — it's practical when dogs are working in paddocks.
Handmade to Order
Made by Adam and Sarah in Orange, NSW. Not mass-produced overseas. Every collar gets individual attention before it leaves.
Zero Returns
Since we launched. That's not luck — it's what happens when you build things right the first time.
