Muddy Winter Walks · Rainy Parks · Summer Beaches · Backyard Sprinklers
One Collar. Every Season. Zero Drama.
Winter brought mud, rain, and wet dog. Summer brings sand, salt, and sprinklers. Your dog doesn't take a season off — and neither does our gear. PVC doesn't absorb any of it. Rinse, wipe, clip back on. Done.
🌧️
Winter sorted
No stiff, smelly, bacteria-filled collar. No soggy nylon that takes a full day to dry. Rinse, wipe, done — even after your dog found the biggest puddle in the park.
☀️
Summer ready
Salt water, lake swims, beach sessions, backyard sprinklers. Same collar, same thirty-second rinse, same result. Doesn't rust, doesn't stink, doesn't quit.
Australian dogs don't do off-season. Kelpies don't look at a grey July sky and suggest a rest day. Labradors don't skip the dam because it's chilly. Spoodles don't wait for warm weather before deciding every puddle is personally addressed to them. Which means their collar gets a workout all year — mud in winter, salt in summer, and something unidentifiable in between.
The bush figured out PVC first. Farmers, ringers, working dog handlers — people with dogs in water troughs and creek crossings every day — they saw quickly what a collar that doesn't absorb, doesn't smell and doesn't need replacing means in practice. The kelpies and cattle dogs of regional Australia have been wearing Adam and Sarah's gear since day one. That crowd doesn't come back if it doesn't work. They keep coming back.
Now the beach crowd and the city dog owners are catching on too — because "built for a working dog" and "built for a beach dog" turn out to be exactly the same thing. The gear doesn't know the difference. The one thing that does change? The colour choices. Working dog country tends towards red, royal blue, black. The beach crowd goes hard on fluro yellow, neon pink, hot pink, teal and mint green — because a dog bolting away from you at full speed through a crowded beach deserves to be the best dressed and easiest to spot thing on the sand. Seventeen colours and counting. 🌈
"Excellent product and lovely to use. Gives great control in situations where you need to keep your dog close. Wipes clean and well made in an amazing array of colours."

🌧️ Winter — Built for Every Wet Walk
Winter walks are brilliant. Cold air, crisp mornings, dogs absolutely losing their minds with excitement. PVC sheds water and mud like it's not even trying — rinse under the tap and it's done, not "leave it on the back step and hope for the best" done, but actually dry in minutes. What customers keep telling Adam and Sarah after a full winter: they stopped thinking about the collar entirely. No smell, no stiffness, nothing to replace. Just a collar doing its job quietly, every day.
"Strong, well made and easy to clean! Very happy!"
— Michael, verified Jacaranda Collars customer
What winter actually throws at your dog's collar
🌧️
Rain & Wet Grass
Every morning walk in July is a wet walk. PVC sheds water like a duck — nothing soaks in, nothing stays.
🟤
Mud Season
Puddles, creeks, banks they definitely weren't supposed to go down — rinse under the tap and it's gone.
🦠
Bacteria & Smell
Odour comes from bacteria living in damp fabric. No moisture absorbed means nothing to grow in. Genuinely no smell.
🔩
Hardware That Holds
Stainless steel buckles and D-rings that don't rust or seize up after a wet winter. Every clip works as smoothly in August as it did in May.
Good for your dog's skin, too
Because PVC dries so quickly and holds no moisture, there's nothing sitting damp against the skin through winter — no collar rash, no irritation, no bacterial buildup. Clean collar, dry collar, happy dog.
"The material is heavy-duty but soft enough that it doesn't irritate any of my dog's skin. It has been through mud and water, washes easily, and does not hold odors. Great quality and bloody affordable!"
— Emily Taylor, verified Google reviewer ★★★★★
☀️ Summer — Beaches, Dams, Lakes & Backyard Sprinklers
Summer escalates things. Salt water at the beach. Dam swims on the farm. Lake sessions on holiday. The backyard sprinkler that your dog has decided is their mortal enemy and must be defeated, daily, at full speed. Salt is corrosive — crystals get into fabric weave and attack plated hardware from the inside — but PVC gives it nothing to work with. Rinse under the tap and it's gone. The stainless steel hardware is built for marine environments. It won't rust, won't pit, won't give you grief at the car park after a swim.
"Really nice quality PVC and buckle. No more wet soggy collar for my collie who swims every day."
— Gentiana, verified Jacaranda Collars customer
"It's been great for the beach, easy to clean!"

Where summer takes your dog (and their collar)
🏖️
The Beach
Salt water, sand, sun, then the trip home. Thirty seconds under a tap and the collar's done for the day. Ready for tomorrow.
💧
Dams & Lakes
Country dogs know this one. The dam is not optional. Neither is the subsequent mud from the banks. PVC handles both.
🚿
Backyard Sprinklers
Some dogs run through them. Some stalk them. Some commit fully and refuse to come inside. All fine. Wipe it off.
🌊
Rivers & Creeks
A hot summer day, a creek with a decent depth. Your dog figured this out independently and you're just along for the ride.
The colour stays, too
PVC holds colour far better than fabric alternatives — the fluro yellow stays fluro, the neon pink stays neon, the teal stays teal. With 17 colours to pick from, that actually matters. Your dog deserves to look good at the beach all season long, not just in November. 🌈
Why It Works Year-Round (The Short Version)
🚫💧
Non-Porous PVC
Nothing absorbs in. Not winter mud, not spring creeks, not summer salt. Water, dirt and bacteria have nowhere to go but off the surface when you rinse it.
⚙️
Stainless Hardware
The same D-rings and buckles in June are the same ones in January — no rust, no pitting, no seized clips. Stainless is stainless.
🔩
Riveted, Not Stitched
No thread to rot, absorb moisture, or fray over time. Solid metal rivets that don't have an opinion about whether it's wet or dry.
⏱️
Thirty-Second Clean
Rinse. Wipe. Done. That's the full maintenance routine, winter or summer. No soaking, no scrubbing, no airing it out overnight.
🌈
17 Colours — All Year
Colour that stays vivid through both seasons. Easy to spot in winter fog or on a crowded summer beach. Bold because it should stay bold.

Questions Worth Answering
Will it really not smell after a winter of wet walks?
Really. Smell comes from bacteria growing in damp material — nylon holds moisture and gives bacteria exactly the environment they need. PVC holds nothing. There's no moisture inside the material to breed anything. A quick rinse under the tap is genuinely all it needs, and it comes out the other side with no odour at all.
How do I actually clean it?
Rinse under the tap. If there's mud on it, rinse under the tap with a bit of pressure. If you want to be thorough, wipe it with a cloth. That's it. No soaking, no laundry cycle, no drying time to speak of. It's ready to go back on the dog in minutes.
Is it safe to leave on in the water?
Yes. The buckle is a standard adjustable side-release — measure your dog properly and it stays put whether they're running dry or swimming laps. If your dog has a habit of backing out of collars in the excitement of a beach run, our martingale with buckle is worth a look — it tightens slightly under pressure and can't be slipped.
Will the hardware rust over a season of beach swims?
No. Every Jacaranda collar uses stainless steel hardware — D-rings, buckles, everything. Stainless steel is specifically chosen because it handles repeated salt water exposure without rusting, pitting, or seizing up. This is the single biggest gap between our gear and cheaper pet store collars using plated hardware — plating wears off eventually, stainless doesn't.
Will the colour fade over summer?
PVC holds colour significantly better than nylon, which can bleach out noticeably after a single summer of UV exposure. Our colours stay vivid. Like any coloured product, years of constant direct sun will eventually have some effect — but we're talking years, not one season.
Is it good for sensitive or irritation-prone skin?
A collar that dries quickly and holds no moisture is inherently better for skin than one that stays damp against your dog's neck for hours. There's no wet fabric against the skin, no bacterial buildup in the material — just a clean, dry collar that sits properly without the conditions that cause collar rash in wet months.
Don't Forget the Lead
A waterproof collar clipped to a nylon lead is like a good raincoat over wet pyjamas. The lead cops every bit of the same rain, mud, salt and sprinkler water as the collar does — and nylon absorbs all of it just as readily. The smell transfers to your hand. The stiffness is real. The damage accumulates the same way.

A Few More Things Worth Knowing About
Same waterproof PVC, different jobs:
-
Long Lines (2.5m–10m) — great for recall training at the park in winter when it's too muddy to go fully off-lead, and equally good for beach training when you want range without losing them. Rinses clean exactly the same.
-
Martingale Collar with Buckle — if your dog backs out of their collar when they spot the ocean at fifty metres, this is the answer. Tightens slightly under pressure, can't be slipped. Same waterproof PVC, extra peace of mind.
-
Slip Leads — for quick on-and-off at the car park after a beach swim, or a muddy morning walk when you just need something simple. Same PVC, same hardware, rinses in seconds.
-
Puppy Collar & Lead — introducing a pup to their first wet winter or their first beach visit? Our 10mm puppy range is the same waterproof PVC in a lighter, smaller build. Start them the right way — gear that cleans up easily matters even more when there are small dogs learning the world.
